Do I need to check for updates if I remove the HP support assistant?

Hi,
I just uninstalled HP Support Assistant and HP Framework from my HP Windows 10 laptop, because they were causing high CPU usage (and kept my fan running).
Now that it is installed, do I need to check for updates periodically? I can search for "check for updates" and check for updates manually. But will updates (like driver updates, software, or security updates) be checked for and downloaded automatically? I would like it if this were so out of convenience. I just am not a fan of HP Support Assistant/Framework doing this.
Thank you
Ryan

Solution
Depends, windows 10 will grab some updates itself but that relies on HP supplying them to MS to add to windows update. Generally, I only look for driver updates if I have a problem.

Thank you Phillip. I wasn't even aware of that and thought to just blindly go for the latest but now I'm learning everyone says generally to update only if have a problem. I appreciate your advice! :)
