I am looking to replace old desktop mobo and CPU. What are my choices?
Looking for one that is future proof, with some head room. Which socket type do would be recommended?

  • ■No Gaming, No overclocking.
    ■Internal graphics should suffice.
■Usage: Just basic usage. On lines of browsing, movies.
    ■Form Factor - micro ATX.
    ■Prefer one for Intel CPU.
    ■Budget of 100-150$ for CPU + Mobo
    ■OS Windows.

What choices would you recommend I go with?

Looks like you still own DDR3 memory. In that case, it might be better to invest in a motherboard, that I guess, supports both DDR3 and DDR4 memory so you can make the jump to DDR4 memory later. Like the ASRock ''Combo'' modelled motherboards.

Your route for Intel would look like this, based on your current budget:
CPU: Intel i3-6100
Motherboard: ASRock H110M Combo-G

However, AMD is supposed to release their RYZEN processors next month, and rumors say they're powerful processors for a good price.

For example:
A quad core processor for the price of an Intel i3
Hyperthreaded Quad core for the price of an Intel i5.

Thanks for the reply.

The old RAM is not a concern. Just looking to get new one's here.
With that changed what can I look at?

Edit:
I just realized you can see specs of my PC. This is not to replace my i5-2500k which has DDR3 RAM. :)
I am pretty sure, this old PC has DDR2 RAM.
