hello,
I am planning on building my first pc soon. I want to keep the budget low so I was wondering if anyone could let me know if it is possible to use a tv as monitor (just by plugging a hdmi cable into the pc and tv) or if I really have to buy a monitor. Thanks for the help!

TVs will work as a display for PCs, very common even.

Really comes down to view distance and size, but the pixel density of any TV above 30" at 1920x1080 is bordering on too low. Which can cause problems with long term reading and viewing.

But if you sit far enough away it is the equivalent of a much smaller size screen, and then the convenience factor and cable length starts to become a problem.
