Going from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Home OEM, possible?

I'm currently running a Windows 8.1 Pro.

Since I missed out on the dateline for a free upgrade (and I switched my hardware around too), I'm thinking of buying a cheap Windows 10 OEM to upgrade to.

The thing is, on the Windows page itself, it says that Windows 8.1 Pro will automatically upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Does that mean I should only buy the Pro version and not the Home version?

Can I still upgrade to a Home version of Windows 10?

The free upgrade for Win 10 ran out in July.

If you purchase Win 10, you can, in theory, run the install and upgrade from your existing Win 8.1 Pro to Win 10 Home. And probably keep your existing applications and files.
