Installed MSI RX 480 and system shut down about 20 seconds after initial boot up. But has worked fine since.

Title basically says it all. Just wondering if the shut down after initial boot is a sign of bad things to come? I've played several games with it now and ran a gpu stress test to see if it was a power draw issue but everything thing has went smoothly.

I've seen all kinds of weird behavior after adding new hardware. Like Rookie says, just keep an eye on it for a while. You might want to burn it in with a 24-hour stress test to make sure.

Yea that's definitely the next thing I'm going to upgrade. It was just difficult to find reliable info for the power usage of the rx 480. Most things I read said it used about 150W, the same as my old card a r9 270

New PSU for sure. The RX 480 tend to draw more than the specified 75w through the PCI slot. The newer Crimson drivers fix that by making it draw more from the 8 pin connector.

BTW ... running the MSI rx480 gaming X in my re-purposed Dell T3500 workstation.
