I just built my custom pc and have entered the bios. I was able to find out where the option to choose what the pc runs with is. I have a flashdrive with windows 10 on it ready to be installed (ik it works because my friend used the same flash drive for his custom pc (he is stumped too)). When i select that usb to be the boot device it says "missing operating system"

Explain?!?

Solution
You didn't burn to the USB properly. You can do that with RUFUS. https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Or, you didn't actually select the USB drive.

If you need to start over for some reason:

1. MS media creation tool https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

2. Make sure to use the EXACT version for your license code. You can also buy a code later. Probably Windows 10 HOME 64-bit.

3. Have the USB stick inserted, then RUN that tool. It will download the image and properly setup the USB.

4. Have the SSD/HDD drive installed, and the USB stick inserted

5. USB stick may boot by default. If not, then open BIOS and point to it with quick BOOT. Probably don't need to place it top of the BIOS boot order.

6. finish install

7. Most DRIVERS will install. May need a newer video driver and possibly others.

8. Setup FAN CONTROL (motherboard software from support site) if desired. BIOS setup may do an okay job. (any Windows setup overrides BIOS settings)

OTHER:
If this motherboard has UEFI then I would disable CSM (Compatibility Support Module). This avoids installing in LEGACY mode which may help boot speeds or improve security.
