I have an intel i3-2130 @3.4ghz and i was just wondering if anything above 1333mhz would affect anything because i am currently running on 2gb (ik disaster) because one on the ram slots on the motherboard isn't working so i wanted to upgrade to 8gb on a single channel and the motherboard is a gigabyte ga-h61m-s2p-b3* if that means anything

(PS: on a side note i am planning to make a cheap budget gaming pc out of this build which i got for free and i was wondering what parts would balance the i3-2130 and the 8gb i plan to put in it, anything helps thanks! :D)

If only running one stick and not going to be using the onboard graphics, the RAM speed isn't going to make a very noticeable difference, so buy whatever is cheapest. I would look for a used graphics card for that system since the i3 is going to limit you in many modern games. You can get an idea of the relative performance of cards from the link below. I would be looking for a GTX 750/760/770 or equivalent and make sure the PSU has the proper wattage and connectors for which ever card you use.

So anything above 1333mhz is alright? and thanks for helping me out with the gpu :)

It can run faster memory, yes. But I would also check to see if the memory you're interested in is on the compatibility list (link below). I didn't see any 8 GB sticks listed, but this doesn't necessarily mean they won't work.
