Hello

I've never had performance ram before and it asked me to set it up.
Right now I put everything on auto but it has
CL10 performance option and the mhz to put it to.

I honestly don't know where to begin with this.

Any clues or threads would help,

I'll keep looking around.

Well at 1600.... I dunno that it would have a XMP profile unless the SPD defaulted to a DDR3-133 SPD set of settings and used 1600 as the XMP settings. GSkills offerings at 1600 ranged, to my recollection from CAS 9 - CAS 11 w/ Ripjaws and CAS 7 for the Trident line.

You can use CPUz (SPD tab) to see what settings are tested and workable w/o overclocking. Again, I would select XMP and call it a day.

I don't understand why you are "trying to make of all this" or what the relevance of most of that data might be. You bought RAM which has a certain performance level. Your choices are:

a) Install the RAM and let it run at the default JEDEC settings on the SPD
b) Install the RAM and set it to run at the Optional XMP settings on the SPD
c) Install the RAM, set it to run at the Optional XMP settings on the SPD and then try and overclock it further.

We do see from that data you listed that:

a) Your default RAM setting is DDR3 1333
b) Your have the option of enabling XMP in BIOS in which case your RAM will run at DDR3 1600

It is also likely that your RAM may have additional JEDEC settings available. To see what might be there, as above, you can download, install and launch CPUz, move to the SPD tab and see what your choices are.

Alright.

I went to the XMP, enabled it, it's now running in 1600.
I also noticed there was an option for CL10, which I enabled and then it gave me options of running at 2133 and higher.
Then PC wasn't able to boot.
I turned it off and now it's on 1600.

I guess I can leave it as is.
I'm uploading pics of the configuration just in case I'm missing something.

Thanks for your help!

Again, can't really see the options w/o CPUZ shots

Don't understand where you are getting lost. Look at your image .... the 3rd (JEDEC 6) and 4th (XMP) columns.

JEDEC 6 shows that to get 10-9-9-24 CAS settings you will be running at 1333 Mhz (2 x 666 = 1333)

XMP shows that to get 10-10-10-30 CAS settings you will be running at 1600 Mhz (2 x 800 = 1600)

of those 2 options, which one sounds better .... CAS 10 @ 1600 speed or CAS 10 @ 1333 speed ? For DDR speed Bigger is better ... for CAS, lower is better.

DDR = Double Data rate ... means you double (aka multiply by 2) the 800 to get 1600

The BIOS is offering you another option for CAS 10 at 2133 ... there is no SPD listing for 2133 which means it is officially unsupported by the RAM vendor

Hey

Sorry I took so long to respond. With the holidays and this new issue I'm having I can't access bios to look at the settings anymore.

I've been trying to resolve it but no luck.

I reset the computer and the monitor skips displaying anything until windows comes up with the queue sound.

Thanks for trying. I'll see if I can get to change this.
