Hi all,

I'm planning on upgrading my CPU from AMD to Intel, meaning a new motherboard. I've read that generally you'll want to reinstall windows at the same time but I'd also like to pick up an SSD and put my OS on there.

What would be the best order to do things in order to get things running smoothly?

I've got legit Windows 10 non-OEM.

Thanks in adavnce

Do this before you swap: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change even if you have retail version, it just makes it easier.

download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

follow this guide to installing win 10: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

when you install win 10 and reach stage asking for a licence, click "I don't have a key" and win 10 will continue to install. Then follow the steps in my 1st link to activate it on new PC

That should do it :)
