Waddup dudes....its me....your papa...dank tech :ange:

So i am quite stalled right now.....i was going to buy a new gpu.....the gtx 1050 ti....but......it only has digital output....my current monitor is a acer AL1702W...this monitor IMO has served me pretty well...but its analog....so there i was...searching online for a new hdmi monitor......

Then it struck me as to how damn expensive hdmi monitors are. Some monitors were more expensive than the gpu itself....i would have bought a new monitor but it would really go out of my budget..(already bought 8gb ram and a new psu)

So here's the question should i use a hdmi to vga digital to analog adapter or....should i buy a new monitor...(PS:- i am not paying for this....my dad is....and he does not like to spend a ton of cash on things he doesn't know a thing about)

If budget is low then an adapter would be the way to go, Keep in mind that VGA is pretty outdated. DVI-D is better then HDMI by far IMO. I know the 1050 Ti's have DVI capability so maybe try looking for a monitor with DVI-D, even though most that have DVI-D will have HDMI on it also.

Is dvi d monitors cheaper?

Your current monitor is 1440x900. What games are you playing and what is your current GPU? Something like a GTX 750 is completely sufficient for most games at reasonable settings when playing at 1440x900.

I personally wouldn't opt to spend close to $200 for a GPU only to play it on a 17" screen.

Don't get so hung up on the input method of HDMI, VGA, DVI, or Displayport. Plenty of adapters exist for all these methods of input. If you're looking for a new display look for a 1920x1080 around 24", a 60Hz TN panel would deliver a good yet affordable gaming experience and pair very well with a 1050 Ti. Something like this is $109 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009422

a 60hz gaming monitor will most likely set you back 100-150$ for 1080p
