Black screen watching a video. No longer displays upon power up.

Dunno if this is the best place for this thread. I have an odd ball problem I'm trying to solve and looking for input.

I was watching a youtube video when I suddenly got a black screen while the video still played in the background. After restarting the computer I still get no display.

Three monitor display so it isn't the monitor.

Things I've tried: complete power cycle. 1 stick of ram. another graphics card.

I am thinking it is either a dead bus on the mobo or a dead rail in the psu. Don't have a spare psu laying around to test so I haven't tested that yet.

Any other thoughts on what might be a problem that could be tested?

Unlikely full specs would help in this situation but I'll list them anyway.

AMD fx-6300
AMD r9 280x
ASRock 990FX Extreme3 AM3+
PNY XLR8 x4 (16gb)
Diablotek DA Series 600-Watt
OCZ Vertex 180GB SATA II SSD

First thing that needs replaced is the very very poor and dangerous PSU.

They have a poor efficiency and high failure rate when loaded past 70%, yes, but dangerous it is not. Hence the reason I have a 600 watt when I only need 450. To prevent that very issue.

I appreciate the response and your trying to help.

It was going to get replaced when I got my AM4 system, but power supply is already on my list to test and I was fishing for other oddities that I might not be thinking about.
