I am new to the forum but not new to computing. I currently have a 2500k oc'd to a stable 4.3ghz with air cooling on a Z68 Asus board. It's been running, no issues, since 2012.
I have a 6600k and a Asus z170-a on order and thought i would see what people are running, settings wise, for stable overclocks on this proc with air cooling. the gen 6's have been around for about a year so i imagine people have played with it.

here's my box:
first gen cosmos case with 5 active fans
212 evo (current and to be transfered to the 6600k)
corsair tx750v2

The max overclock I achieved with my i5 6600k was 4.5GHz at 1.32VCore. It generated a lot of heat, which I wasn't happy about, so now I sit at 4.0GHz at 1.160VCore. Not much heat at all.
