Windows 10 Start button and many other vital buttons not working?

Last Christmas, my PC was acting odd and would not turn on... After about five minutes of trying to figure out what was up, my PC shut down and while I cannot currently recall the screen, it looked like it was updating (even though it wasn't) and I believe said something about the disk drive while loading. It booted up and would not let me click the start button. I researched and did all the powershell stuff.... None of that worked... I created a new profile and that worked, and I can copy all of my files to that profile, but I want to make that profile an administrator for numerous reasons and for it work properly, but I cannot even open the settings or anything on the original profile to make the other one administrator.

Have you tried accessing your old profile in safe mode? this video isn't exactly your problem but it shows how to get into safe mode from lock screen and how to access user accounts there, you might be able to do what you want

Thank you. I have now been able to make my new profile administrator and use that!
