Triple monitor lag issue

Whenever i play games on my triple monitor setup it causes the games to lag very badly i could go from 70-80 fps in games to 15 -10 when i turn on the nvidia surround, is there any way i can play games on my triple monitors and not have the lag ?,, I have a gtx 970 graphics card

I'm not sure the 970 could handle 3 monitors with a lot of graphic intensive things going on to be honest.
Could also be a CPU bottleneck issue too, unsure.
