(I didn't know where else to put this, so any mods/admins move if you can or wish to)

Basically, the title. Can I hook up my old PS2 to my monitor, to play some good old fashioned games without using my families TV? I have a Samsung Syncmaster 2233 if it matters at all.

Solution
It can be done, but you'll require a specific cable.

The PS2 is component out, with the monitor accepting DVI or RBG....

I believe the monitor is DVI-I, so can accept the analog signal........ so a basic cable like this should work:

If I'm mistaken and your monitor only accepts digital, then you'll need a converter - and that about as expensive as a new PS4 !
