My Acer monitor won't correctly display 144HZ, the screen distorts when changing.

I have the Acer GN monitor and a Sapphire Radeon R9 380 2GB Dual-X Video Card. I also am using a DVI cable that has 18 + 1 pins. What am I doing wrong everytime i try and change it to anything greater than 60HZ the screen distorts and tells me to use the proper cable even though iam using the one i got.

If you aren't using the one that came with the monitor then you will need to make sure its dual-link
