Removing Samsung U28D590D Stand/Neck.

I have a Samsung 28" U28D590D I need to send in for repairs. I cannot for the life of me get the neck off. I have read other posts and seen videos on how to do it but it doesn't move at all. I've tried for around an hour. I basically want to know if there is some sort of alternative way to get it out besides hitting the thing because that is obviously not working for me.

Even according to the manual you have to hit the thing. Smash it, you're sending it in for repair anyway, lol.

And, funnily enough, it does look like you have to hit the thing.

It literally says pound on that very page.

I can confirm, yank on it. Or ideally, pound on it before you unscrew the bottom bit. It will come out.
