What monitor setup would be the best for me? What resolution and what refresh rate?

Hey,

so I'm thinkin about spending some cash on new monitor(s) soon. I just can't really decide what to buy, I currently have 24" 1080p old LCD monitor. First I was thinking of getting ultra wide 2560x1080 29" and later I changed my mind to 2560x1440p LED monitor. I was also thinking of just getting 1080p with G-sync and 144hz because I have Geforce GTX card, but now I'm looking at 4k monitors, because I have 4k TV and the picture is just amazing, I can't even describe it, when I hook up my pc to the tv and frame rate is still high even on max settings, but the problem is the TV is 60" and on the other side of my room so it's difficult to connect to it every day and I was thinking of just getting 4k monitor which would be even better choice than my Samsung TV. I've also started thinking of getting 3 new LED 1080p monitors for 3 monitor sorround and I'm really lost can't really decide what to get. Mostly I play FPS(cod, bf, some cs go here and there) and racing games(forza, nfs) and from time to time some GTA 5, so I think that higher refreshing rate would be a bonus for me, but I would also like to have higher resolution. So what do you guys think would be the best choice for me? 1080p 144hz with g-sync, 1440p maybe with 144hz, 4K 60hz or 3x1080p's?

thanks and best regards

Think about it that way: The higher pixel density on 24" would make it more "retina" as opposed to a bigger screen.
The joke aside, A bigger screen would need more physical space, 1440p 24" should be just fine. I'm on 1080p 22" screens and have no isues reading the stuff I have to look at.
1) I hate multi-monitor gaming as some games don't support it, there's GAPS etc.

2) I prefer 2560x1440 60Hz vs 1080p 144Hz as the extra pixels help a lot for basic desktop and many games (CIV5 and other "god" games with small text especially)

You also need to think about how to properly use VSYNC with 144Hz (if not an asynchronous monitor like GSYNC) such as forcing "HALF" Adaptive VSYNC to run 72FPS which is the ideal choice in some situations.

3) GSYNC is awesome though expensive. I believe it's about $800USD for a 27", 144Hz, IPS monitor.

4) 4K?
Depends on price, though 4K can be hard to justify and does have some scaling issues with content. 1440p is the sweet spot for higher resolution with less scaling issues.

5) Ultrawide?
I looked close at the 3440x1440 monitors but due to lack of support in games I decided not. Even when there are INI hacks the content can be warped. I know I can run black bars (scale by aspect) and set game to 2560x1440 but the extra cost and lower refresh (i.e. 100Hz vs 144Hz or 165Hz) swayed me towards 2560x1440.

(I may eventually get a 4K, HDR, 120Hz, QD LCD but that's going to be a while)

So... ?

It depends on the budget, but hands down a high-res, high-refresh GSYNC monitor is your best option (possibly 3440x1440 if you really want ultrawide).

Like THIS: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/ttnG3C/acer-monitor-xb271hubmiprz

nearly identical: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/XvfmP6/asus-monitor-pg279q

(not sure which is better but read multiple comments at various sites if interested... note Amazon often mixes up different products in the same score... Fing useless)
