Afterburner doesn't set overclock

I searched for this on google but couldn't find anything so I ask it here.
When I use my computer for more than 10 minutes and then open MSI Afterburner, it doesn't do anything. I select the profile and click apply, but the Core clock and Memory clock just stay at the base speeds, they don't change. Then I have to restart my pc and open it up, then it works. Anyone knows how to fix this?

Edit: Sometimes it works again at a later point.

Okay thank you. By the way, I found out that if I minimize it and close it a few times or wait, it works again. But I have another gpu installed that I won't overclock because it's already running hot on stock speed.
