Will adding an external 1080p monitor to my laptop slow the overall performance?

I want to add a 1080p monitor to my laptop but I'm not sure whether it'll slow down my performance.

My specs are: Intel Core I5 4210u @1.7GHz turbo boost to 2.7GHz

4gb ddr3l ram

Nvidia GeForce 920m GPU

1tb hard drive

Thanks!

It depends what you are doing as well. If you normally had a game, then a web browser might reduce CPU usage if the game is fullscreen. By having it on a second monitor it's still "active" even if the game is on the other screen.

If you are just doing basic tasks it's not going to be an issue, or if running a game and the web browser only has a tab or two open it probably won't affect the game experience.

Say I can run a game at 60 fps on my 720p laptop screen, will it run at 30fps on my 1080p one? Thank you!
