I just upgraded the computer due to a project I am working on and I am looking for a good monitor upgrade from what I have but only have around $300 to spend maybe a little more. I would like to get a 27" 1440p IPS monitor but having a hard time deciding two things. 1. is that even feasible for a good monitor and 2. is it necessary.
My current build is as follows:

AMD FX-8370
XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB
16GB DDR3-2133
ASUS 970 Pro Gaming Aura

My main use is playing games and creating videos for YouTube. I currently have two 24" monitors. One is an ASUS VE248H Monitor.

The other one a friend gave me and is an old Samsung. I have done some looking online and found a couple options that I think are ok but really, I haven't bought a new monitor since 2012. Here are the ones I am debating over.

That last one is a 25" and I really would like to go to 27" but if it is a good monitor, then I would go for it.

This next one is on the very high end of what I have to play with.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PB278Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Monitor/dp/B009C3M7H0/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1484173743&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=1440+IPS

These are the options I am looking at and it seems some of the response times are a bit high from 4ms - 5ms, not ideal for gaming but will it really matter with gaming YouTube videos?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 27" "content creation" monitor from NEC. not for gaming or movies but I have never seen any problems. I got some occasional screen tearing while playing ARK, but turning on vsync fixed that.

In my Opinion - "fast refresh" is just marketing BS to get people to pay more. Once you get below a certain value it doesnt matter anymore. Somewhat like moving from 150fps to 160fps in a game. Can you really SEE the difference?

$300 for a 27" 144p monitor is going to be really hard:
a few to consider:

Some more to consider. Thanks for the suggestions. I will add them to my list.
I always wondered about the response time. Always felt a little gimmicky but tried to go with faster ones cause that is what everyone says you need.
Wish I could afford that NEC. That's a nice screen.

yes I like my monitor :)
5yrs old and still rocking

you can also view the monitor as an investment. a good one will span several PC upgrade cycles, so if you get a good one now, then you can save on buying another monitor when its time to upgrade in the future.

Very true. I have had my ASUS for almost 5 years and it still does very well but I am finding I need something with a bit higher resolution to be able to do what I need. Actually going to move it to a secondary spot and remove the Samsung as it has some problems. Might move it as a backup or attach it to my server.

I think I am going to go with the BenQ. I have heard only good things about their screens and think it will work pretty well. Will be a week and a half before I buy it as I am needing to wait for my bonus from work. :)
Thanks for the help kittle.
