Does RGB RAM affect the CPU

Looking to buy the upcoming G.Skill RGB RAM however I am curious to whether lighting on RAM in anyway affects CPU performance even to the slightest degree.

It might shine it in a bad light, but I doubt it has an actual effect on it.

CPU and any lighting system would be running off different power sources so I think it would be fine.

No, lighting has no affect on the CPU or motherboard. It draws power from the motherboard, but since it will be drawing an insignificant amount of power, you don't need to worry about it. It will not affect CPU performance at all.
