Hi all,

This may be a stupid question but Is it worth me switching my Radeon 7970 3GB graphics card with an Nvidia 1060 graphics card? I can get a MSI 1060 for £229.99 which is the top end of my budget.

Whilst I'm here, is this the best card for this price?

CURRENT GRFX CARD SPEC
Product VTX3D X Edition AMD HD7970
Core Clock speed 925mhz (1050mhz)
Transistors 4.31 billion
Stream Processors 2,048
Compute Performance 3.79 TFLOPS
Texture Units 128
Texture Fillrate 118.4 GT/s
ROPs 32
Pixel Fillrate 29.6 GP/s
Z/Stencil 128
Memory Type 3GB GDDR5
Memory Clock 1,375mhz (1,425mhz)
Memory Data Rate 5.5 GBps (5.7Gbps)
Memory Bandwidth 264 GB/s

My PC: i5 4570, 8GB DDR3 RAM

Would be great if someone who has made a similar upgrade could provide their opinion.

Thanks a lot people! Appreciate all your comments.

The 7970 is still a capable card but the 1060 is in a class above it. You have a pretty good i5 so you could make use of the extra performance. As to whether it's 'worth it' that depends on the experience you are getting now. If you're happy with your current performance level then why buy another card? In terms of price, well the 1060 comes in 3gb and 6gb models, without knowing which one it is I couldn't say if that's a good price or not.

Thanks for your reply. The £229.99 MSI card is this 6GB version. I can't find any reviews of this single fan version but it looks good enough. Let me know if you know otherwise.

My 7970 is starting to show it's age, for instance in Deus Ex mankind divided I have to turn down quite a few settings. I was looking for a card that would allow me to play with max settings at 1920x1080 resolution. This is the highest resolution my monitor supports and I don't plan on getting a different monitor anytime soon.
