How exactly is the equation written? Any parenthesis?

Is it:
x^2 + (25x)^2 + (8x)^2

or simply

x^2 + 25x^2 + 8x^2

(assuming that the ^2 is just the small 2 as a superscript, which I can't emulate in this message box).

If it's the latter, then think of it as follows:

y = x^2. Since exponentiation has priority over multiplication and addition, the problem becomes:

y + 25y + 8y. Thus 34y. Thus, basically 34 times x squared.

If it's the former way I wrote it with the parenthesis, then it is solved as follows:
x^2 + (25x)^2 + (8x)^2

x^2 + (25^2)(x^2) + (8^2)(x^2)

x^2 + 625(x^2) + 64(x^2)

(1 + 625 + 64)x^2

690(x^2)
