Hey Everyone! I am thinking about building my own PC that has the power to do Intense 4K video editing smoothly and intense gaming. I tried to stay under a $1,500 budget while picking out parts that have great performance for a great price. Here is what I chosen.

PC Part Picker Link - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GKsHnn
For more details.

Processor -Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
A Processor with 4 Cores running at 4.0 GHz caught my eye. Also, is this Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor be better for $15 more? Or will a AMD processor be better?

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
From the reviews and ratings, this was the best low cost CPU cooler.

Motherboard - MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
I love how it has a Type A/C Port for faster file transfers. Also the 4 3.1 USB ports.

Memory - Corsair Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
I hear 3200MHz is better than 2133MHz (On a gaming laptop I was thinking of getting) Plus, in the future I can buy more to upgrade to 32GB on which the MoBo can support up to 64GB.

Storage - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
2TB for footage and games. SSD for faster performance.

Video Card - MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GAMING X 8G Video Card
$33 less and faster Core Speed. 2560 CUDA Cores included. (I hear these CUDA Cores can help with Video Editing or something like that)

Power Supply - EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
System estimated to run at 395W, thinking of 500W for future Upgrades.

Case - NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case
Best looking Case with a reasonable price with matching color scheme of Black & Red.

So will this all help me to have a Powerful PC that can do Intense 4K Video Editing and Gaming? For programs like Premiere Pro, After Effects, Blender, Cinema 4D, 3D Max, and other programs in the same category. And play games 60fps on Ultra in 1080p like GTA 5, Battlefield 1, etc. (I think you get the idea) While staying on a $1,500 Budget (well $1,600)

Any Suggestions will be helpful. And if you have a question, please ask.
Thank You. I will be looking forward to your help.

Wow, I didn't think I needed 32GB for 4K. Will 3200MHz still be a good choice for the memory?

And for the Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor. My first thought was it's only 3.4 GHz.(Sorry, I just hear the more Ghz, the better) But then I saw the 6 Cores and was impressed. Only thing it's $200 more.

But thanks for your suggestion. It really helps!

honestly heres my image of a 4k build:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9J3ZGf thats the type of pc people like Linus would use for 4k video rendering. but it depends on how much and how often you'll be rendering 4k. cpu speed is for specific tasks.

give me some specifics on your 4k rendering needs

Well now that I think about it, I do 4K video editing at times, but I mostly use 1080p 60fps. But your Build list can really help to do more 4K editing in the future. I also love to do Visual Effects in After Effects and to do 3D Rendering as well. That is when the Intel Core i7-6900K 3.2GHz 8-Core Processor was very impressive! Maybe, I should think about upgrading my budget for something like that.

I'm sorry, but I have more questions.
Will the amount of CUDA Cores really help with this type of task?
Is 3200MHz Memory worth it?
Is a 1070 GPU better than 1080 GPU for this type of task?
Again, I'm sorry about the questions, but your really being a great help.

for video editing, rendering, and 3d stuff:

the more cores and threads the faster video rendering.
up to 64gb will improve video rendering but for most people 32gb is enough
3200 is not worth it, but 2600-2400 might be worth the money.
if you want to use a cpu for rendering you need a nvidia quadro which is bad for gaming.

for gaming:
the faster (ghz) quad cores will be better in gaming. thats why a good balance between rendering and gaming is a 6850k, its still fast in single core and still a lot faster than an 7700k in rendering. but for gaming no doubt 7700k
16gb of 2133
1080 for 4k, 1070 for 1080p.

what I recommend for you, this should suit all of your needs https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Kkp2BP your might even do good with a 6800k

Thanks again. That was really helpful.

I have done a few YouTube Videos, but I plan on doing more when I get my PC build. I'm trying to get it build before this Summer when I will be making videos for every week all summer long for a camp that wants me to film and edit their videos. So that's when the $800 camera I need to get will come in handy as well. But wow, $2,500 for that type of build. Hmm, I'm thinking about it.

So is this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XYF8zM the best I can get for $1,500, or can you make another list that can beat it. Then I'll see which I can get, but I'm really hoping for the $2,500. It's really good.

Thank You

$1,000 Budget
$1,500 Budget
$2,000 Budget
$2,500 Budget
$3,000 Budget
I'll think about adding more to the budget for this 1 time thing that can last me for a while. Thank You so much if you do!

Hey man I found your info very helpful. I was looking for the same information this was great stuff. I have just a few follow up questions. the 2500 rig had compatibiltiy issues it stated the following- Some Intel X99 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Broadwell-E CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions. Im just getting into computers and Im still learning so my knowledge is pretty basic. I guess I would need a better CPU from what it is saying, would you have another you reccomend? Also how big of difference is the $1500 build and the $2500 build? as far as will I notice a big difference in my gaming and video editing experience?

no, you don't need a cpu, it says it may need a bios update which is not true.
