Hdd fails to boot, even after fresh install

After a windows update, computer fails to boot into the hdd. I can get into bios fine, but when it goes to boot windows, it gives me a black screen with a flashing white - on screen. I've already tried doing a fresh install of win 10, but the problem persists. The bios also recognizes the hard drive. I've tried switching cables and ports as well and nothing solves if.

Try another drive on the pc if you have a spare to see if the drive is at fault. Try booting cd or usb first and putting the hdd second plug an empty usb or cd in

It will boot from a cd, but not a thumb drive. As for other drives, I don't really have one to test sadly. Tried reordering the drives, and the drive itself worked fine in my brothers computer.
