DVI-D Single Link cable to DVI-D Dual link port okay?

Hi guys, I recently bought GTX 1050 and It's attached graphics port is a DVI-D Dual link together with a DP and a HDMI port. I get one DVI-D Single link cable from the office and tried it because all of it's pins are fit, but still there are I guess, 6 pins in the port of my monitor and video card that remains vacant. Is it fine to use a a Single link DVI-D to a Dual link DVI-D port? Or it will decrease the performance of my card?

Yes it'll work fine it will simply be limited to single link mode.

DVI-D single link will max out at about 1920x1200@60hz. So if you have a 1080p 60hz monitor that should be fine. You dont need the adapter it wont do anything, you will still have a single link signal even with that adapter. No it wont decrease the performance of the card, it just limits you to about 1080p 60hz.

a gtx 1050 comes usually with one dvi, one hdmi and one displayport

what monitors do you want to connect?

what connections does those monitors have?

how many of those monitors do you need to work at the same time?
