should i get get a 144hz 1080p monitor is it necessary

im currently building mainly for gaming.i am thinking of getting a gtx 1060 6gb or rx 480 8gb.i want to get the 144hz monitor to play old and current games

Well for current games you wont get 144hz worth of performance from those cards for the most part, but they both might get you over a hundred in quite a few games but not likely the newest AAA games. Go with the 480x it will be faster in the long run
