GPU/CPU Upgrade suggestions please!

Howdy folks its been a long time since i was active..


Let me jump into the scenario directly

I currently have the following RIG and am planning to upgrade my GPU and CPU suggestions are kindly suggest!

GPU: R9 270x 2GB
CPU: G3258 @ 4.4 Ghz
MOBO: MSI H81M-P33
MEM: 4x2 DDR3 Corsair Value @ 1333mhz
HDD: 1TB + 500GB
SSD: 128GB System drive
PSU: Corsair VX450

And my eyes are set on the following GPU


GPU: RX 480X 8GB
CPU: Please suggest a good budget AMD/Intel
PSU: Suggestions welcome!

with your current mobo you can go with Intel 4th gen Core i3, i5, i7 CPU
for latest CPU like 6th and 7th gen you need to update CPU + RAM + Mobo
so what's your budget?

Yup that's a bummer!!, ain't gonna change my entire setup just the cpu/gpu and the psu if required.

And to answer your question my budget is 450-500 USD for the CPU+GPU


i am kinda looking at the i5 4670k which seems to be available for around 100$(Used) maybe this should do??

if u change all the items to 6th or 7th CORE, there will spent u a lot of $ .
just upgrade your CPU & GPU .there is a good CPU named E3 1230V3 OR 1270 V3 ,u can find it in ebay..
then,u need just make a choose in 1060 6GB & 480 8GB .
PSU? just keep it

i5 is better choice..go for it..latter change your mobo to Z series for better overclocking

you could


the best i5 that motherboard supports is the i5 4690

either would make a great pairing with a 480

make sure the 480 you get only needs a single 6-pin pcie cable to power it, that is all your power supply has!

Should i upgrade my PSU as well???

my current psu is Corsair VX450 will it be able to handle the Rx480 + i5?

For Rx 480, well its power hungry card 150-190W, so 450W should be fine but edgy..better to invest in 500-550W 80+ certified for safer side
