Hello everyone, I have purchased a laptop but it's native resolution is 1366 x 768. I tried to get a higher resolution than this so I plugged this laptop to my TV with my Xbox 260 HDMI port. My TV has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. I my laptop to duplicate the TV's screen and even though it only supported 720p, it was able to display 1080p with no issues. But the problem is when I unplug the HDMI port connecting the TV and the laptop, the laptop resolution goes back from 1080p to 720p and I cant't set the resolution back to 1080p. My laptop could support this resolution but it doesn't let me. CRU and PowerStrip didn't work either.
My laptop specs are:
i5-7200U
Intel HD Graphics 620
8GB RAM
1TB 5400RPM HDD
Windows 10 Home - 64 Bit

The laptop I've purchased is a Dell Inspiron 5567, no touch screen.

Please help.

The 1366 x 768 is what the screen in your laptop supports. What you could do is EXTEND desktop to the TV, and set it's resolution to 1080p, while your laptop screen stays at the 1366 x 768. Only your TV will show 1080p, no matter what you do to the laptop settings, it will only EVER support the 1366 x 768 resolution.

Yes when you duplicate a monitor to another both will take whichever resolution is the lowest supported. If a 1280x720 screen is duplicated to a 1920x1080 screen, the 1080p screen will display as 1280x720.

If you extend the displays and not duplicate. All the monitors will run at their native resolutions provided your GPU can push that maximum resolution.

I don't think you understand. I PLUG my computer to my TV, the resolution on my TV goes to 1920 x 1080 and the resolution on my laptop also goes to 1920 x 1080. So you're lying, my laptop could support 1080p when it is CONNECTED and set to DUPLICATE on the TV. If you reply the same thing, I don't think you understand. MY COMPUTER'S Native resolution is 1366 x 768 while my TV native resolution is 1920 x 1080. I connect them both together with an XBOX Cable and set the screens to "DUPLICATE." BOTH THE RESOLUTIONS WHILE IN DUPLICATE MODE ARE IN 1920 x 1080. So...... My computer IS, in fact, compatible with 1920 x 1080 without any problems. Please don't give me a useless response (no offense) like the ones you've already said above.
Help would be appreciated.
The two responses you stated were, in fact, nothing related to my question.
It's quite simple.
So to summarize, All I'm trying to say is that;
My computer supports 1920 x 1080...
Again, help would be appreciated so....
Thanks in advance:

It's simple. I completely understand what's going on, but YOU don't. No offence. The native resolution of your screen is 1366 x 768. That's ALL your screen will support no matter what. There is no way your laptop will display a higher resolution than what they are physically able to do. When you connect the TV, and set the screens to duplicate, the monitor is not showing 1080p it's still showing 1366 x 768. It's being scaled to fit on your screen.
You can match your laptop to the list below:
Dell Inspiron i5567-1836GRY – 1366×768 non-touch display, Intel Core i5-7200U CPU, Intel HD 620 Graphics, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, backlit keyboard – This one sounds like the model you have.
Dell Inspiron i5567-3655GRY – 1920×1080 touch display, Intel Core i5-7200U CPU, Intel HD 620 Graphics, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, backlit keyboard
Dell Inspiron i5567-5473GRY – 1920×1080 touch display, Intel Core i7-7500U CPU, AMD Radeon R7 M445 Graphics, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, backlit keyboard
