Okay here we go. I know there are tons of documents and topics explaining this mess but I am still confused even though I am an engineer but still cant wrap my brain around this :D
for the beginning i have a gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 980 graphics card an in probably 1 year i will buy another one (second hand) for SLI. instead of going gtx 1060 or upper versions.

I would like to buy a monitor pretty soon and yes I am CSGO player (LEM was the highest rank I achieved and my current monitor has 5ms response time with 1680x1050 resolution and it can hit the 75hz refresh rate)

My budget is limited so I want to buy some monitor which as 1ms response time and still with 75hz, because 144hz monitors are out of my budget.

So my question is if it's worth to upgrade my monitor to 1920x1080 with 1ms response time, or i should be saving longer and get a 144hz monitor (1ms or 5ms).

Is solely response time going to make a difference 5ms vs 1ms response time for CSGO ? which one is more important ? going to 144hz from 75hz or going for 1ms from 5ms.
I tried to make my confusion as clear as possible but well my english is also limited :)

Edit : damn it. it's in wrong section. :(

Solution
My experience has been as follows.

My previous displays have all been 5ms or more 60hz except 2 that were 2ms/60hz (1 is now my 2nd monitor and the other I gave to a friend). Going from 5+ to 2ms was barely noticeable.

My current monitor is 1ms/144hz the smoothness of 144hz was way more noticeable then going from 5ms to 2 and eventually 1ms.
I won't deny that there is a difference between them (5ms, 2ms and 1ms, and I'm sure it has helped my KDR in the games I play. But it wasn't as obvious as going from 60 to 144hz.

If 1080p is satisfactory for you, the 24 and 27 inch 144hz/1ms monitors are way cheaper than 1440p/144hz.

Edit: my current monitor...

In my opinion I would just get what feels best to you. Buying a 144Hz monitor is expensive right now so if you don't feel good about it then you won't like it anyway.

However, if you are going to have 2 graphics cards in your setup, I can tell you that you are wasting them on only 75fps max with the 75Hz monitor at 1920x1080. I would personally get a 144Hz 2560x1440 monitor.

Even though i dont feel good about buying something expensive after i buy it when i see the gaming experience, I'm sure i will like it :) But still if going to 1ms from 5ms is more effective than going to 144 from 75hz, I will buy a cheaper monitor.

I will get the second gtx 980 when i feel like one is not enough :) So there is still some time for that.
And full HD is totally enough for me btw

The 1ms 75hz monitors are limited(in my searches on Amazon) and not much cheaper than 144hz models. Cheapest 75hz monitor is $169.99(Asus VG245H), Cheapest 144hz is $199.99 (Acer GN246HL Bbid)these are all US prices

Response time is for ghosting. You should not be seeing any difference at 60hz with ~17ms per frame. Either it's placebo or the fastest response times they give on the spec sheet was way off vs average response times. It's not uncommon because overdrive. Just about every 144hz I know is 1ms anyways. If you have no ghosting issues, 144hz is the obvious answer.

Thank you I was exactly asking this from someone who experienced it. I think I will wait for 144hz then.

Thank you for the answer i will be saving up for 144hz
