My first build and I'm a little bit unsure on AMD or Intel

Hey guys,

I have decided to build a gaming PC and thought I should ask you since this forum helped me a lot.

So here is my build:

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-970-Gaming
Processor: AMD FX-8370 (4.0 GHz)
VGA: Gigabyte RX 470 4GB
Memory: 2x8GB HyperX 1600MHz
SSD: Kingston SSD 240GB
Processor cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212

My question is that whether this build will be good for a few years or not. I have read several times that the AM3+ is "dead" since there won't be any new processor coming out for it, so should I switch to Intel or another AMD? I know the Zen is coming out this year, but I do not have the money for it. So what is your opinion? :)

Wasn't the FX-8370 released in 2014 September? But anyway, thank you for your answer. :) I'll start looking into Intel as well.

Or wait for Zen/Ryzen, couple of reasons.

1. it's looking quite good and might be reasonably priced.
2. It'll push the old FX prices down as shops shift stock
3. If it is good then it may impact intel pricing.

I don't think you can lose by waiting in this case.

If you are eager to build right this moment then yes go with Intel for sure there's no contest. On the other hand if you are willing to wait a few months then the Ryzen series AMD CPU's could be a cheaper alternative to Intel if they live up to expectation.
