Hi,

I got a prebuilt ASUS PC (ROG G20CB), it comes with Windows 10 home.

The only problem is that it has a regular HDD and its really slow, I want to install an SSD and use that as my primary. I dont want to lose my Windows, so how do I install my activated Windows on the new SSD?

I checked google, and some sites recommend backing up to USB from the windows backup option, but one site recommended that if I signed in and linked my account to the current installation license I can then just download another windows 10 from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and login to get my license back.

Which would be my best option?

Thanks

For installing on a new drive, in the same system, you don't...

For installing on a new drive, in the same system, you don't even need to worry about the licensing.

Create your Win 10 install media (from your link above)
Disconnect all other drives
Install on the new SSD
When it asks for the license key, select "I don't have a Product key" at the bottom of that window.
It will activate itself when it goes online.
