Should I install a Windows 8 printer driver in compatibility mode?

I have a Lexmark X4650 printer, which I need to connect to my Computer (which runs Windows 10). However, the latest version of the driver for my printer (as you can see at this link) was made for Windows 8.

Should I install this driver using the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option and select Windows 8? Or are Windows 8 drivers more or less identical in nature to Windows 10 drivers?

What's the safest option, and what are the risks associated with either option?

I know. That thread was started by me a while back, when I had another computer. That computer later developed a debilitating (and still undiagnosed) problem that caused the hard drive to lock up at random intervals. While I don't have any particular reason to suspect that installing the Lexmark driver in Windows 8 compatibility mode (which is how i did it, if I recall right) caused my problem, I can't rule it out as a possibility. For that reason, i'm being very cautious with my new computer, and would like to know the safest way to proceed.

But should I use compatibility mode?
