Title! Was blessed with a ticket to join the master race! But.. I've got exactly $100 in Amazon gift cards for the monitor, and I'm terrified of choosing the wrong one.. Any and all advice is appreciated!

EDIT for more detail: I'm currently looking at these two: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B015WCV70W/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
and then this one

I'm no part of the sweet, sweet master race (just yet) and I've been stuck with the same laptop since 2008, so display isn't something I've got any knowledge of.. Give me wisdom! :)

At $100 you don't have a ton of options on Amazon. I would probably avoid IPS at this price range and try to get as close to 24" as you can (size does matter). Something like this 23" Asus TN panel would be a good starter monitor:

It has a decent response time to avoid ghosting. Asus usually picks quality panels from AUO so you don't end up with a lot of dead pixels or backlight bleed.

Eventually when you upgrade to a better machine and a high end gaming display this will work well as a secondary browser/netflix/youtube display.
