IF a Screensaver isn't necessary anymore why does the Apple TV and new Computers still have them?

I always keep being told screensavers are pointless these days because LCD and LED monitors don't get burnins and therefore don't need screensavers. If that's true why does every new computer, appletv, roku etc have a screensaver built in? People aren't using old CTR monitors for new technology are they?

Some people like pretty stuff floating around on the screen when not in use. It's theoretically possible to extend the life of backlight (lcd or led). To lock the computer when you walk away. No it's not necessary for the reason you mentioned.
