Windows Product Key Question

I have a quick and maybe stupid question but i was wondering: if i buy windows 10 home on my laptop which already has windows, what will happen? Will it give me a product key that i can use on my first PC build? Will it try to activate it yet fail since i have windows and waste my money? What will i be getting is basically what i mean, and will it expire if i dont use it for a week since im building my PC in a week. Help! thanks

Are you saying you're going to buy the full version of Windows 10? Or, are you talking about upgrading to Windows 10 on your laptop? If you mean full version, you can buy it and install it on your desktop anytime you want.

You're buying a product. Windows 10.
It has nothing to do with your laptop.
You can install it on your new desktop. Next week, next month, next year.

Assuming, of course, you buy this from an authorized retailer, and not a scam key seller.
