Asus monitor refresh rate!

Hello guys! I bought last year an Asus vx279h, it's a 60Hz monitor as I knew from its specs but I saw that the new amd crimson drivers report as maximum refresh rate 75Hz, although win 10 give me 2 options, 59 or 60Hz. Last but not least when I use vsync in games it caps at 60Hz but I see some spikes and games are not smooth, if I turn off vsync and go for 120fps from in game cap everything seems smoother. With my old Asus 22 inch 60Hz old monitor and non full hd, everything was totally smooth with sync on and 60fps. Can you help me to configure the monitor from Windows and graphics drivers properly so that it will perform correctly and stop pushing my video card for higher fps while it's not needed? Thank you in advance...

What GPU and what game. You say you see spikes? spikes under 60FPS? that means your GPU is struggling to get up to 60FPS now that you're at HD and a higher resolution.

I see spikes at stable 60 fps, game is league of legends, all settings ultra apart from shadows, gpu is msi r9 270x, this game is a piece of cake for this card as far as I know, crimson settings are all default and updated, card not overclocked

Notice that the game seems smooth at 115 to 120 fps so it should be the monitor setting somehow, I just don't find it normal that's why I ask for help, also my internet is ok, I got 49-55ms tops
