Using my lg TV as a monitor

Hey guys so basically I'm trying to connect my HP(model number p6744y) to my lg TV (32LB520B-UA) I have a VGA cord connected to the TV and HP but nothing is displaying on the screen I know I'm doing something wrong but no clue what and if there's anyway I can send pictures of what the set up looks like please tell me

What version of Windows do you have.

Press the Windows key + P and choose Duplicate or Extend - does anything appear on the TV now?

Well that's the thing all I have is a black screen with no signal and my input options are TV av component and HDMI 1,2,3

your tv doesn't show the vga input?

check it is enabled in the tv and try gain

If I'm reading the manual correctly, the VGA port on the back on the TV isn't actually a port for video, it's for service.

Post a picture of the back of the TV to show us how you've plugged things in.

That it's useless to you and not meant for video.

It's usually used for updating the TV or other things not usually needed by the end-consumer.

you could try to get a vga to hdmi adapter

this one for example

vga from the device and hdmi into the tv, should work well enough
