I'm looking forward to build a simple rig that will be used exclusively for emulation of old arcade boards on Mame (Cps1-2-3, Neo Geo and Midway boards), using Windows XP, since it has a better support for lower resolutions (640x480). This rig will be connected to a Sony Wega 29' Tv, since I dont really have the option to purchase a real RGB monitor. What I want to know is, is it better If I get a gpu with a S-vídeo output, or a VGA to S-vídeo converter will do just fine? Which one of the two will give me better results?

Thanks in advance.

VGA does have a pin for S-video/composite output so it's a simple wire to wire adapter. It would work same way as with a GPU that has separate outputs.
