So I have a 2005 Pontiac G6 GT with the Monsoon stereo package in it. I want to put in an FM modulator so that I have an aux, but I'm not sure if the adapter on the modulator is the one that my head unit uses, so what antenna plug goes into the head unit?

Someone on g6ownersclub forums posted this about adding aux to basic g6 head unit (no XM and no cd changer):

FYI for things that are car specific questions, you are going to get much better information going to the car specific forum as in that forum you might only have a group of 200 people but they all have the g6. In this forum you might have 5000 people, but doubtfull 5 have a g6.

I can google and research things but I have never removed one screw/ plastic panel in a g6 to give...
Its hard to tell from your post, but I think you are confused about fm modulators.

If your car radio can receive local radio stations that is fine.

You just need an fm modulator that takes your aux device and broadcasts the data onto an fm channel that your car radio's built in tuner and antenna that should already be on thecar should pick up.

Sorry for any unclear parts, but I'm looking for an FM modulator, not an FM transmitter, where the modulator actually plugs into the antenna port in the back of the head unit and can bypass the radio signal sending it straight to the head unit. I'm just not sure what kind of antenna socket my car has in the head unit, so I needed to know if I need adapters for the antenna cable, because again I'm not sure what kinds of different antenna sockets there are or which I have.

with the information given so far, one would have no idea which adapter is needed,

heck, one might not even be needed if the fm modulator has the standard large motorola pigtail....
