1080p (30 fps) vs 768p (60 fps)

Bottom line is just experiment yourself. Set it to 1080p HDTV then run a few games making sure you run at 30FPS (not lower) or disable VSYNC and run higher (pros and cons as you now get screen tearing but less lag).

Then change to 768p at 60FPS.

Examples:
1. Slower game, with smaller HUD/text - resolution more important than FPS

2. Faster game, with larger hud/text - FPS more important than resolution

SKYRIM sits sort of in the middle. It looks a bit better at 1080p, but it's slow enough that 30FPS is okay. Racing games like DIRT also benefit from the higher resolution (HUD elements) but IMO it's better to have 60FPS.
