Hey guys, as the tittle suggest my PC goes into Power Saving Mode during games and sometimes when I'm at the desktop as well.

I'm not tech-savvy, so I honestly I have no clue on what the problem is unless it's my entire PC setup. (It's not a very good setup)

Specs:
Windows 10
Intel Core i3-4170 CPU @ 3.70GHz
AMD R9 290X
500w PSU
8GB Ram
LG Monitor (Don't even know what its called)

Please help, any and all information/feedback/answers would be swell.
The only game I try to play is Rainbow Six Siege, I can sometimes play up to 10-15 minutes with 100 or so FPS and then it blacks out and I'd have to reboot.

you take like this 500w psu

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152053

Output+3.3V@20A, +5V@20A, +12V@32A, -12V@0.5A ,5VSB@2.5A

you see that 12v+ at 32 amps ?? that's = to a 400w psu not 500w at 500w psu should be 41 amps at 12v+

watts divided by 12 [voltes in this case ] = AMPS so 500/12 = 41.6 not 32

look at its sticker and see max combined watts is only 385 w but its called a 500w psu ??

I like how its put here on this one

''Provides up to 40A / 480W on the +12V rail '' so I guess if your lucky ?????

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1N83U90946

you see this a lot on small units under 600w there truths get stretched a bit on what they are...
maybe that 500w is giving it up and cant supply stable power to your system under a full stressful load and windows kicks in to fail safe to protect ??

may ned a solid quality PSU in the 650w dept, ?? some cheap 500w PSU can be like a 400w in disguise and not be able to supply full AMPs or just a failing unit

then you never know what win-10 wants to do cant help you there .

I never knew the PSU's could be like that, It seems I need to invest in better options.

well what is your PSu brand and all ? it may be a good 500w ?? all I can do is guess with out knowing all the details

in my opinion the psu is your builds hart and life's blood . and should be treated as important as the board cpu and vid card . all relies on it to supply full clean stable power at max full load usages.

you see it overlooked here at toms all the time guys build a 1000$ rig and use a 38$ budget psu and here with there my so and so aint working right

you take like this r9 290 ??

External Power - 6-pins : 1

External Power - 8-pins : 1

Minimum Power Supply Requirement : 750 watt

XFX Recommended Power Supply : XFX 850W PSU

see if you were to go back on them on there card and said you had a 500w they would throw that right up at you ???

Well, today went quite well, I think the PSU decided to act the part, I was able to play Rainbow Six Siege all night tonight without any Power Saving Mode screens happening. I was alt-tabing a lot to check the CPU usage with task manager, idk if that was part of it working or not I have no clue.
