Screen tearing will happen any time your fps is not synced to your refresh rate. So you'd still have screen tearing with a 144 Hz monitor. That being said, it may be less noticeable with the faster refresh rate.

Try capping your fps to 60, it works very well. It nearly eliminates screen tearing and doesn't cause lag like V-Sync does. MSI Afterburner allows you to cap fps.
