Urgent plz help

I have one monitor which supports VGA display and a Samsung hd TV
I have MSI gtx 1060 GPU which has 3 display port ,1 HDMI ,and 1 DVI D .

I want to have display on both i.e monitor and TV at the same time ..

I bought a display port to VGA converter for using it with monitor and HDMI port for TV but only TV is getting display and monitor is not getting any signal

Plz help me how can I make this possible

Whatever port you use, you will need an active adapter since the GTX1xxx GPUs lack built-in digital-analog converters.

What GPU port you choose makes absolutely no difference, digital is digital, you get exactly the same picture bit-for-bit with any one of them. Your VGA output quality will depend mainly on the quality of the DAC and PLL in the active adapter you use.

Active adapter means converter am I right??I.e DP to VGA or dvi to VGA correct Mr invalid error Or theses are two different things

An active adapter is an adapter that has active electronics inside to convert one interface to a different interface, such as digital DP/HDMI/DVI to analog VGA.

A passive adapter simply takes connections from one connector and wires them through to the other connector, which is what DVI-I to VGA adapters are.

Oh ok I got it that means I have to buy an active adapter whether it be dp to AVg or dvi to AVg it doesn't matter . Right??
