Hi,

I am soon going to build a new PC and would like for your opinion on the matter. I am going to use it for architectural modelling, archviz and occasional gaming. I will be using software such as AutoCad, Revit, 3d max, Vray, Unreal Engine, Lumion etc. Also I will be overclocking. The build i've currently settled is this:

Motherboard: MSI x99A Raider
CPU: Intel i7 6900k
GPU: GTX 1080 Windforce
CPU Cooler: Cryorig R1 Ultimate
RAM: HyperX Fury Black DDR4 2666MHz 4x8GB
Power Supply: Corsair CX750M 750W
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo MZ-75E250B 250GB
PC Case: Fractal Design Define R5
Additional Ventilation: 2x Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition High Airflow 140mm Fan
1 additional intake vent on front of the case and 1 at the bottom of the case.

Let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance!

Congrats, you have a lot of money ;) I envy you, enjoy your setup! (hopefully you have a very good monitor to use all those frames you will be generating)

Btw...since you say you will be productive not just gaming.... did you think about AMD Ryzen?

I have seen some reviews, but i am not sure. Is it better for workstations or is it just more cost effective?

Would like some more opinions. I have a fear that when I buy all the parts, one may not be compatible with the other.

Well i would tell you dont buy 1000$ cpu, thats really ludacrissly expensive for no reason.... i would just buy i7 7700k with Z270 motherboard, it seems you have lots of money to spend :p Or...if you want....ryzen, but thats your choice, look on youtube how it compares to intel. Ryzen seems like a damn good deal for workstations, and its also more than decent for gaming, just a bit slower than intel but still you would get crazy frames in all games

Yes, I think you are right. In the past couple of days I've been researching this and decided to use Ryzen.
Here is the changed build:

You really dont need 1000w PSU :p Pick up 500w PSU from reputable brand and you are golden ;) Also, if u want to save 200$, go with Ryzen 1700 instead of 1800x https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXxpIqHoi34
It's strange how nobody else is commenting on this? Hmmm

Also im not sure you will have to research this, i think ryzen dont go well with high speed RAM (not sure tho, look it up)
