I recently aquired a JL audio 10w6v3-D4
I have a 2014 Chevy Camaro.
The battery is a 14 volt battery.
All the amplifier ratings I can find that work with it are rated at a 12 volt operation.

Should I use a step down transformer from 14v to 12v?

Or should I put a resistance in line with the battery to amplifier in order to reduce it's voltage down?

Or should I not even care about that because 2v difference isn't really that much? And plus even in a 12v systrm the alternator pumps out 14v to charge the battery. But the battery acts like a shock absorber in that case.

On another topic should I get a better alternator to accommodate the extra load on the system?

The system will eventually be:
1x Jl 10w6v3-d4 500w rms
2x Jl c2 series 6×9. 140w-145w rms
2x Jl c2 series 6.5 component 140-145w rms

Overall introduced wattage: 780w- 790w rms
Old system wattage: 300-400rms

Basically I am doubling the load from the speakers. Was wondering if that was enough to warrant the addition of the alternator?

found out this question is silly all batteries are 12v and all alternators run at 14v. Yes it makes a difference a bit in your total rms output. also the addition of an alternator is not absolutely necessary. the lights may dim some when the bass hits. You can avoid this with a capacitor, 1 farad per 1000w rms. This will add strain on the alternator. Which may or may not warrant the use of a performance alternator.
