Hello all, I am not knowledgeable with computers. Here are my current pc specs:

8 gb DDR3 Memory 533mhz
ATI Radeon 5750 1 gb video card
AMD Phenom II X6 1035T Processor 2.6 Ghz
Motherboard Gateway DX4320

I want to upgrade my graphics card to something like Radeon RX 470 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 or the Geforce GTX 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5X but im not sure if the "GDDR5" or "GDDR5X" is compatible with my 8gb memory ram which is only "DDR3". Does anybody have any knowledge of this?

Another question is, will the new graphics card fit into the slot on my old motherboard? Thanks a lot.

it is not a problem if you use graphic card using gddr5 memory with ddr3 ram, but i dont think it is a good thing for you to get high end graphic card like that, because your cpu is really old, it can cause bottleneck and only waste your money, i recommend you to upgrade other part first, then you can upgrade your graphic card

get a gtx 1050 ti

your setup is to weak for anything higher

also since it is a pre-build the power supply might also be too weak

not sure can 1050 ti even be a good pair for the pc, because some amd processors have pretty good spec, but not really good performance at some things, especially most of their processor getting aging, probably the cheapest alternative is get amd ryzen

Consider this setup:
"https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813145003" - GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-D3H
"https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113428" - AMD Ryzen 7 1700
"https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231884" - GSkill Ripjaws 2133MHz 16GB Dual Channel
"https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126117" - ASUS ROG Radeon RX 480 8GB
"https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438049" - EVGA 550Watt Modular power supply 80+ Gold Certified
"https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236624" - 2TB Western Digital Black 7200 RPM Drive
"https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147593" - 250GB M.2 Samsung EVO 960 SSD

Before tax this will run you about $980. If you want to save some money you can cut out the SSD but it would help dramatically with your performance. Depending on your Gateway case, if it takes a standard mATX board you can rebuild inside it (make sure you follow the wiring of the front panel connectors and organize them accordingly), otherwise you'll spend another $50 or so on a micro or mid-tower.

Also, if you want to wait a bit for AMD Vega cards, you might save some money on current generation AMD or NVIDIA cards.
