Help with freesync

so i have a ViewSonic VX2457-MHD 24" Full HD 1080P AMD FreeSync Gaming Monitor and a sapphire r9 fury since it pretty cheap now. and im trying to enable freesync. Im pretty new to all this. I looked in crimson and the amd freesync tab says not supported still? any ideas how i can get it to work?

Im using Hdmi and yes i tried to enable display port 1.2 but its grayed out on my moniter settings cant scroll onto it. no idea how to change it. i have the latest fury drivers
EDIT i found how to enable freesync on the moniter itself but its also grayed out

On their official listing of supported monitors, it says that your monitor only supports FreeSync over DisplayPort, not HDMI/both.

Ok i see. So that would mean i need a display port cord not a hdmi? will just any one work or do you have a recommended one.

Go for one with DisplayPort 1.2 or newer standard.
