is this a good Gaming Monitor

Solution
Graphics-card prices are falling all the time. Good deals on Ebay.

I checked out the IPS ViewSonic VX2276-SMHD $135, flicker free, low-blue-light mode, DP HDMI, but it has a bad stand & isn't good for games.

The $120 IPS LG screens have problems too.

Try the $110 21" Benq gw2270 (or gw2270h for hdmi) or the 24" 1080p gw2470 or 1080p 27" gw2760. They are AMVA+ screens, the latest type of VA panel (VA, MVA, AMVA, AMVA+). Fine for gaming (only 4ms input lag) but not hardcore. People have connected games consoles without problems. The low-blue-light mode works well so late-night use won't disturb your sleep.

Quite good picture quality. Good text quality & unlike IPS screens doesn't suffer from IPS glow.

It's a flicker-free LED so no...

It's a flicker-free LED so no headaches. There is no light bleed unlike many IPS screens (so if you need to game in dark scenes this is good). The viewing angles are very good too, even better than the previous AMVA, and much better than TN. It is Windows 10 compatible.

Its stand is very stable. The color & brightness uniformity is very good. Blacks are reasonably good.

The colors are accurate apart from a few greens but this can't be seen in photos of forests etc.

Videos are fine including dark scenes.

The only problem is that contrast is poor so photos aren't as good as they could be. The average person is unlikely to find photos where this would be a problem.

(Set the AMA (Advanced Motion Accelerator) function to high, not premium. This helps cut motion trails.)

Here's my best settings: low blue light mode 50%, sharpness 6, brightness about 10 & contrast a bit lower. Set the AMA (Advanced Motion Accelerator) function to high, not premium. This helps cut motion trails.

The low-blue-light mode could cause ghosting in some games.

(To deal with a "dead" pixel rub the area gently & it will very probably correct itself immediately or within a few days. A crystal has been dislodged and needs correction. Playing a video/game over it may also correct it.)

Try the Amazing EEmazon trick: On Ebay there will be dealers (who have to pay taxes) selling them for less with a warranty. So order from tAxlessmazon then return it for a refund first.
